Public service events are some local experience for operators with a net control station. This is a local network specifically used to coordinate an event.
ECAR does several events during the year. They are noted and described below.
Ride For Roswell

Pumpkin Patrol 2025
Dates: October 30 and 31, 2025
Troop T officers and volunteers will be manning overpasses on the New York State Thruway, preventing pranks and protecting motorists. More than 300 volunteers from 16 different organizations spanning 20 counties are participating.
The patrol originated in 1976 in Montgomery County, when Katherine St. Jacques was talking with a trucker over her CB radio when the windshield of her vehicle was struck by an object thrown from an overpass. The truck driver sustained injuries. St. Jacques and two friends decided to stand watch over the three overpasses that crossed the Thruway. The State Police assumed control of the Pumpkin Patrol in 1990, as part of its crime prevention efforts. Volunteers for the event, contact n2jrs@arrl.net.
